The ROOF Over Head Collaborative (ROOF) is a non-profit organization that provides supportive housing to families in need in the communities of Amesbury, Newburyport and Salisbury.
ROOF is unique in that we are a bricks and mortar organization – we purchase homes in our target communities and we provide homeless and at-risk families with an opportunity to live in these homes.
Our client families are financially at-risk families with dependent children who have the ability and motivation to contribute to their housing costs. Once a family is selected to become a ROOF family they are required to meet with our contracted social worker very regularly for budget, employment and educational counseling.
ROOF’s program is designed to provide housing for up to two years. Rents increase at appropriate milestone points to help ensure families build the financial management skills and budget stability that will enable them to pay market rate rents by the end of their lease. In addition to signing a lease with ROOF, families sign a Memorandum of Understanding outlining their responsibilities and the expectations of the ROOF program.
ROOF has provided housing to seven families and owns four properties.
We would like to thank the following organizations, businesses, and foundations that have generously given to ROOF:
